Chocolate-banana Havarti Grilled Cheese

  • 4 bread slices
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 oz (60 g) Canadian Havarti sliced
  • 2 oz (60 g) Canadian Mascarpone
  • 1 oz (30 g) dark, semi-sweet or milk chocolate chopped
  • 1 banana cut into thin slices
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) butter softened
  • ¼ tsp of vanilla extract


Preheat a skillet on medium heat with melted butter.

In a bowl, mix 1 egg, one cup of milk, and vanilla extract.

Dip 2 slices of bread in the egg and milk mix.

Place in the skillet, and fry until warm and golden then turn over. Then cover one bread slice with Havarti and the other with mascarpone.

Add chocolate and banana slices.

Close sandwich, and keep cooking each side in a skillet for 3–4 minutes, or until bread is golden brown and cheese has melted, then repeat for a second grilled cheese.

Cut into squares and serve hot.
